ROOTS HERITAGE SWEATERS

In honour of the 50th Anniversary of Roots, I was tasked with leading the design and development of a collection of Heritage sweaters, intended to encapsulate the best of our half a century history in woolen products and leather goods. I began by combing our archives for inspiration, and pulled a trove of imagery. The rugged, authentic, back-country aesthetic immediately stood out, and guided the hand of the rest of the collection. We began by replicating our original Norweigan birdseye sweater, originally made in Norway out of 100% lambswool, but re-imagined in a luxurious (and non-itchy) Extrafine Merino. We then turned our attention to decades worth of Aran knit and cable sweaters, combining the best-of-the-best into a small assortment of utterly timeless, gender free, cable sweaters in a sustainability forward yarn blend.
