Costume Design by John Dunnett
Based on the costume designer's original concept drawing, we created a DRAG version of the main character's grandmother's figure skating costume for the film's final sequence.
In this project I used stretch velvet, faux fur, and dance mesh to create the body suit for a modified DRAG body shape. In production the director elected to remove the breast place from this costume, and so major revisions to the original pattern were required and executed. In this phase I suggested to incorporate the faux fur cuffs onto the sleeve of the body suit, which was well received and ended up in the final version of the design. I used several layers of stiff crinoline mesh and tulle to create the tutu bottom, which we also trimmed with faux fur.
